Arctic Landscapes
Luff, Enid
About the work
These brief descriptive pieces reflect in turn The Snow Fields, the Aurora Borealis, the Frozen Sea, and Birds Flying In over the Tundra. The gentle, atonal counterpoint is complemented by the echoing of phrases between the instruments, creating its own soundworld. Performed by the London Chamber Group at the Conway Hall, London, May 1999.
Technical notes
Nothing harder than triplets. “Atonal” feel to melody. There is some imitation and crossing of parts, the general material being shared by the players. Approachable, lyrical atonal style.
