About the work

A ‘coamer’ is a nautical term for a type of wave. This should be taken into consideration during performance – the piece as a whole should evolve as a series of waves, each one developing in colour, dynamics intensity, etc.

First performance: DJ Hall, Royal Academy of Music, March 2009 by CoMA London Ensemble conducted by Paul Burnell
