About the work

The Concertino was commissioned by the Cheltenham International Violin Course in 1985, and was given its first performance at the Lakeside Junior School, Cheltenham. The piece is written in a neo classical, approachable style.

Technical notes

Rhythmically difficult. Difficult 1st violin part, easy 3rd part. Harmonics required in one place. Difficult piano part. The piece may also be played by three violins rather than by violin orchestra. The upper violin lines could be played on flute or clarinet, and the lower line played on clarinet or viola.
