This piece was written for my friends at CoMA. I did not aim at producing a ‘proper’ fugal completion of Bach’s masterly work, already accomplished by Donald Francis Tovey, but – alluding to Busoni’s previous continuation a century or so before mine – continue a kind of conversation with Bach, or recollect his music in tranquility.
