score & parts
About the work
Counterpoint and Motion is a work in two sections which explores two different forms of musical language. The first – Counterpoint – employs an unfolding contrapuntal process towards an open cadence. The second – Motion – uses a much faster tempo and employs dynamic rhythms, as well as changes in both instrumental and vertical tone colour.
First performed in February 2009 at DJ Hall at the Royal Academy of Music by CoMA London Ensemble, conducted by Paul Burnell
