About the work

One of a series of pieces of wind music written for the CoMA London Ensemble, and performed at its concert in July 1999. The score is accompanied by a number of cuttings, photographs, and headlines of press coverage of the Kosovo war.

Technical notes

The players begin by playing cluster chords with enormous force. One player has a short solo near the end of the piece. Players also need to sing through their instruments, and mane breath noises through them.
