About the work
Four Square explores some of the possibilities available from 4 opposing groups of performers. The listener is situated inside the piece as the performers exchange musical ideas across the performance space. The three short movements show contrasting ways in which the performers can work together and in opposition.

This piece requires 4 or more performers in 4 antiphonally placed groups. It may be played with or without a conductor.
