This piece was written for the CoMA Ensemble and therefore for an unspecified group of instruments. Complete flexibility is permitted, therefore, in how parts are distributed to players.

“La Fin des Haricots” is a French phrase meaning Lit. the end of the beans. It can be used idiomatically, however, to mean “it’s over” or “it’s the end”, “there’s nothing left”, particularly with a feeling of despair, rather like the situation regarding arts funding at the time of writing!
