About the work
The piece was written for a Forum London Composers’ Group workshop with Deirdre Gribbin in 1999, and performed at a Forum concert in September 1999, by COMA Voices directed by Dominic McGonigal.
Technical notes
The piece uses extensive vocalising and oboe melodic fragments to surround sung and declaimed fragments of text about modern life in London, some of which need to be declaimed in a cockney accent.
