About the work

Novae’ are thought to be a close double stars in which one member is a white dwarf. Gas from the companion star spills onto the white dwarf where it ignites explosively, causing the star’s light to surge temporarily by thousands of times. The star is not destroyed in a Novae explosion. Some erupt more than once. The original idea of this piece is the re-birth of something new and beautiful, out of the troubled and hurt old. ‘Novae’ came as a title much later.

First Performance: Composers Ensemble from Birmingham Conservatoire plan to perform it Birmingham in 1999.
