About the work

Commissioned by Peter Evans and Meadows Chamber Orchestra for the 21st anniversary season, with the financial support of the Binks Trust and the Scottish Arts Council. The first performance was in the Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, in 1993

Technical notes

One of the flutes doubles on the piccolo, and tubular bells are required. The piece is rhythmically straightforward, but with many changes of metre.
