About the work
From a lumbering opening based on a simple two note phrase, this piece proceeds to build tension by varying and overlapping this phrase. At times ‘groovy’ and others menacing, this music has something of the thriller soundtrack about it. My aim was to write a piece which is simple yet exciting, direct, even melodic, but which is not a pastiche.
Technical notes
The piece is written in four parts, two in the treble clef and two in the bass. Transpositions are available.
