Reflecting Dreams
Hasse, Jean
About the work
The number of parts, 50, was chosen to reflect the 50 states of the USA. The opening melody establishes the prevailing mood of the piece, and all other material grows out of this expansive melody. The music is often antiphonal. At the end, each player has their own pitch, making up a 50-part chord spanning four and a half octaves.
First Performance: Tanglewood Music Centre, Lenox, Massachusets, August 1993
Technical notes
