Sae ya, sae ya
About the work
Sae ya – sae ya was written for CoMA for any mixed ensemble in open score in four parts with percussion and keyboard. It is based on a Korean folk tune for children, Parang-sae (bluebird), which was often used as a lullaby with a simplest melody without any ornamentation. The folk tune uses only three notes (D,G,A) creating a gloomy ambiance in slow tempo. In this piece I expanded in its transpositions for a melodic/harmonic variety with bouncy rhythm in faster tempo.
