About the work

Seascape unfolds in a series of waves, directly contrasting guided improvisation with notated music.  The work seems to express a series of waves on a micro as well as a macro scale, with individual swells in dynamic depicting the crashing waves and forming part of a gradually ebbing and flowing work.  This creates a series of larger climaxes which gradually fade, contrasted by music filled with a quieter energy.  The improvisational aspects of the work allow a sense of freedom and flow in the music to depict the free, unrestrained nature of the sea, creating a work which sounds unique at every performance.
