About the work

The title can be interpreted in various ways. I have tended to start each section with a limited small number of notes and move out from there, extending the number of notes ‘in play’. Also, the different Episodes wind their way through different sections of instruments, grouped by register, until they finish with everyone playing together. And in the final Episode, the pace winds up notch by notch in shorter and shorter phrases.
