About the work
suture/smear/shard is an open score work in which changes of register and timbre delineate the structure of the piece. The first movement focuses on sharp attacks around the ensemble, and the second on long overlapping lines descending and ascending. The third movement is a combination of attacks and sustains, with the piano and percussion finally emerging as solo instruments.
