About the work

Thread is a piece inspired by the process of jewelry making. A thin ‘strand’ of sound is formed from organically shaped, intertwined notes moving around a single pitch. This runs through the entire piece as various musical objects are ‘threaded on’, one by one.

Thread was written for CoMA London ensemble as part of their collaboration with the Royal Academy of Music postgraduate composition students.
