There will be a special concert to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street on Saturday 8th October 7.30, St John’s Church, Bethnal Green, London E1.
East London music groups are coming together to commemorate this key event in British history with a programme of music that will include an Allcomers Orchestra performing Stephen Montague’s iconic Chorale for the Cauldrons of Hell. Organised by CoMA, the Allcomers Orchestra is open to all and welcomes instrumentalists and singers of all standards. This profound and immensely moving work will form part of the concert that will also features works performed by the East London Community Band and the Grand Union Youth Orchestra and World Choir.
The rehearsal is on Tuesday October 4th at St Leonard’s Church, Shoreditch E1, from 7.00pm – 9.30pm. Please book in advance at library@coma.org . A voluntary contribution of £8 (concessions £5) will help cover rehearsal and conductors costs. There is no charge for young persons 18 and under. Rehearsals on the day of the concert at St John’s are scheduled to start after 4pm.
