CoMA Sheffield was formed online during lockdown. We had our first in person rehearsal in June 2021 and have been meeting monthly since September 2021. We are ably led by composer Louise Vincent and much of what we play is written by members of the ensemble.
We have great plans for next year with an All Comers workshop and concert in October and and an exciting event is in the works for Sheffield’s Classical Weekend in March 2023.
In the last year we launched the ensemble with a workshop and concert featuring new pieces by Non-Classical Composer Emily Abdy and University of Sheffield composition student Jane Sophia, we have played in the Winter Garden with Raye Harvey (Ignition Orchestra, Her Ensemble, Chineke! Orchestra), and enjoyed meeting young musicians from Sheffield Music Academy for a workshop at Sheffield’s Site Gallery.
We welcome players, composers and singers. All abilities are welcome but you do need to be able to read music. Get in touch with email@example.com if you would like to get involved, or would just like to know more about contemporary music.
