As well as being a patron of the arts Edward James was a poet, and counted Kurt Weill, Igor Stravinsky and Salvador Dalí among his friends. It is Edward who appears in Magritte’s famous painting of a man looking at the back of his head in a mirror.
Part of West Dean’s Salon Imaginaire series, the concert includes world premieres of two works by Sussex composers – Luís Nadal’s description in sound of a visit to the Barcelona Pavilion, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, and a set of musical portraits of autumn by Diego Monsalve.
Doors open at 1:00 p.m. for a 1:30 start.
Advance booking available through the West Dean College events page.
