This summer CoMA Summer School went to a new location. We chose Orkney for its connections with new music through the St Magnus International Festival and Peter Maxwell Davies. Our objective was to create music-based resposnes to specific landscape, history and culture and to present these responses to local audiences through a diversity of concert experiences.

It was our second largest summer school, more than 200 local people attended our six public events and new CoMA ensembles are being established in Orkney and Glasgow. We provided opportunituies for two young graduate musicians and consolidated our partnership with the Hebrides Ensemble. A wealth of music created and performed in response to our Orkney experiences.

The following photographs give a flavour of the Summer School.
