This March will see the Festival of Contemporary Music for All, and we would love for you to take part in our contribution to this event!

For this, we run our Open Score Club session for anyone who would like to join – whether you are a member, or just a one-off interested visitor. Moreover, the session is being simultaneously held online (for those living far away), and in-person in Central Glasgow.

You don’t need any preparation to join us on the day – just book your ticket, and bring your instrument. We will also have a live-captioner on the day to make our instructions clearer.

We will start at 10am on Sunday 6th of March. During the first 90min. session, we will explore together three very interesting, very new, and very different pieces:

1) Héloïse Werner’s ‘Outside Phrases’, which asks you to pronounce various French words (even if you don’t speak French!), and to then re-play them on your instrument

2) Simon Knighton’s ‘What to play and how to play it’ – a colourful and joyful game piece (yes! you even get to roll the dice to see what musical material you are going to play)

3) And a selected favourite piece from the past Open Score Club repertoire, as voted by our devoted members (TBC).

After a half-an-hour break, we will meet again, to perform our best version of play-through of the three pieces.

This event – a 12pm Concert (lasting for about 20minutes) – will also be livestreamed for our friends and followers to enjoy. The event will finish at about 12:30pm.

Venue This event takes place both online and in-person:

  • ONLINE via Zoom link
  • IN PERSON Glasgow G1 postcode (exact address given on confirmation).

How to Register

To join us, either online or in person, you can either:

OPTION 1: Subscribe to our online Open Score Club for a monthly donation – The Open Score Club meets twice a month for an hour-long informal session where we look at an interesting and unusual piece of music each session, consider different ways in which we might read and interpret it, and try these ideas out.
