This special concert from CoMA Leeds will include a unique collaboration with storyteller Matthew Bellwood, the premier of Group Hug by Yshani Perinpanayagam and a vibrant repertoire.

We will be premiering Group Hug written by Yshani Perinpanayagam.  Yshani describes herself as “a multi-genre chamber musician, orchestral pianist and music director” and her piece illustrates the rather macabre process where a colony of bees deal with a hornet anxious to attack them.

Matthew Bellwood, a Leeds based writer and storyteller, will join us as the narrator for two items, both written by our own members: Plain Chanting, a setting of the poem Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold set to music by our conductor Elaine Levene, and Curlew by Sue Watts, a setting of a poem by Gillian Clarke.

Other planned items include When the Lord’s music met the Devil’s music by Phil Green, another one of our members, Blue Bottle (also by Yshani), and Chilly Reception (a theme by Henry Purcell arranged by Elaine).

Matthew will also be performing an item on his own.

Tickets at the door, £8 including refreshments
