Our History
Explore CoMA's journey from 1993 to the present day.
CoMA is a UK charity building a culture where anyone can enjoy, take part in and create contemporary music. Our values call us to be playful, creative, ambitious, inclusive, collaborative and community-focused.
Founded in 1993, we make it possible for amateur, emerging and acclaimed music-makers of all backgrounds and abilities to build musical communities and create adventurous new works. We work to share those unique experiences and ways of being creative as widely as possible: with audiences, institutions, the music education field and professional ensembles.
We run contemporary music ensembles throughout the UK as well as workshops, schools projects and development opportunities, with an expanding international programme.
CoMA's unique music collection has more than 900 contemporary pieces, including commissions from leading and emerging composers, making it a unique resource for amateur, professional and youth ensembles.
