The piece is for three melody instruments and three players of instruments such as wood blocks, who construct a complex canon from simple material.
The three players of percussion instruments are given a simple rhythm each, and play in a way which results in a complex canon. The melody instruments have melodic fragments separated by rest, and are instructed to play these at different tempi.
