and not to feel
to be seen
and remain invisible
She both finds
and loses Herself
Written in the summer of 2019 for the 2020 Festival of Contemporary Music for All.
Aleatoric section (I – L) – repeatedly play boxes in order (e.g. 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4..) in your own time and in your own choice of octave transposition (which can change throughout).
Start with a relatively large gap between each box and gradually reduce it during the c. 30″ to create a growing, busy texture.
Conductor should help control thickening of texture and cue when this section is over and lines 1 and 2 can go back to normal counting.
Ossias – all lower lines in a divisi are ossia lines for instruments and players unable to play the fast rhythms.
For repeated melodies, these are given as reminders rather than written throughout.
Octave transposition is allowed where necessary.
Drum Set – if drum set is not available choose untuned instruments that will replicate sounds of bass drum and cymbal as closely as possible.
