The piece is marked ‘vigorous and cheerful’. The various instruments play melodic fragments, sometimes together, sometimes alternating, with a variety of percussion instruments and rhythms.
Each player performs fragmentary material, sometimes at the same time as others, but more often independently. A wide variety of small percussion instruments are specified.
