This beautifully shaped score resembles a tree for performers to explore. It is part of our immediate pieces anthology of works that are performance-ready with just an hour of rehearsal.
The piece evokes psithurism – the sound of wind rustling through leaves. Cells represent the foliage at rest; transitions represent gusts passing through the ensemble like wind through a tree canopy. All players start simultaneously, each choosing one of the bottom left cells. When one player begins a transition, others follow to their next chosen cell by following the arrows. The piece ends after the last player finishes one of the bottom right cells.
