This piece is a musicalization of the poetic form sestina for six or more players.
It is part of our immediate pieces anthology of works that are performance-ready with just an hour of rehearsal.
This French verse form consists of six stanzas of six lines each with a three-line envoi, or refrain. In this piece, the music builds on itself to create interesting improvisatory experiments within fixed short cells of time.
The players may place the pitches in any part of the bar that they choose, and the notes may be of any length the player chooses, but the order of the notes must be maintained. Transposing parts are included.
