Whiskies of Islay is dedicated to Chris Shurety and CoMA and consists of six pieces named after places in the Scottish island of Islay. Any of these pieces may be played separately, but the intention was that, depending on available time and/or forces, any performance could potentially consist of a number of pieces – successive, simultaneous or overlapping. The pieces involve flexible ensembles and the use of different locations within a performance space is encouraged.
Two pieces are graphic scores, one is a vocal piece and one is for three percussionists and piano.
First Performance: Spitalfields Festival, CoMA London 2006
