The piece was written under the guidance of Nigel Osborne at the 1995 CoMA Summer School. Participants in the school were divided into a a series of teams, each of which derived material from sculpture in the Park. The material was pulled together and edited by a further team, and shaped in the performance by Nigel Osborne as conductor.
The piece consists of a series of landmark chords and events, which give the piece structure, between which there are a series of passages in which players are able to use the musical material freely.
