CoMA West Midlands ensemble launched at the CoMA Festival 2024.
On 2 March 2024, CoMA hosted an open participation day at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire run by composer and conductor Sara Caneva. Around 12 participants from around the West Midlands came together to play some exciting works from the CoMA catalogue and new pieces by composition students at the Conservatoire.
We meet once a month and play a range of music, from pieces written by members of the ensemble, to improvisation and some CoMA classics!
CoMA West Midlands meet monthly on a Saturday or Sunday at the Frankland Studio, University of Birmingham, B15 2TT (view access information here). The group is led by Musical Director Sara Caneva.

CoMA West Midlands worked with four young composers on bespoke pieces for the ensemble.
These were workshopped and performed during the CoMA Festival 2026, on Sunday 15 March at the Frankland rehearsal studio, University of Birmingham.
