CoMA’s mysounds opportunities are for 14-25 year old curious musicians, performers and sound explorers from across the UK, who would like to find their fellow music lovers and try something completely new!

About mysounds

CoMA’s mysounds enables young people aged 14-25 to take their music-making to the next level by:

mysounds offers a rare opportunity for young musicians to collaborate and learn from each other, helping to form vital professional networks which will serve them in the years to come.

Our mysounds programme is diverse and flexible, providing exciting opportunities in different formats. To date, we have offered six-month-long mentoring programmes bringing together young people from across the country, as well as pairing participants with CoMA ensembles so that young composers can workshop ideas and see their new pieces performed.

A two-day workshop on creating graphic, text and semi-improvised scores for 16-19 year old musicians from the B:Music Summer School 2026 cohort.

Past mysounds opportunities

In 2021-2022 and 2023-2024, mysounds ran with 10 young people (aged 14-18) from across the UK. The programme included residential workshops and a performance in the CoMA Festival curated by the mysounds cohort.

For 2025-2026 we ran mysounds x CoMA West Midlands, where composers and performers aged 16-21 received mentoring in writing new pieces for the CoMA West Midlands ensemble, which where then workshopped and performed at CoMA Festival 2026.

Who is it for?

mysounds is open to young people aged between 14-25 based in the UK from a range of different backgrounds, who:

We actively encourage applicants from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, including those from the Global Majority, d/Deaf and disabled people, working class backgrounds, LGBTQ+ identifying and participants from outside of Greater London. Some mysounds activities taking place in a specific geographical region may be restricted to applicants living in that location.

The details

Our mysounds activities are entirely free of charge and all travel costs are provided for participants. CoMA also offers to cover costs for one parent/guardian to attend the creative workshop weekends where needed.
